The

Panajachel you can enjoy incredible views or take a day tour around Lake
Atitlan. The village of Santiago Atitlan is located across the lake from
Panajachel and is famous for Maximon, the Mayan God of corn. Locals ask
him for favors in exchange of money, liquor or cigarettes. West of Panajachel,
the Valley of San Buenaventura offers a natural reserve of 120 hectares
and an interesting Butterfly Museum.
